Installing The SegMetrics Tracking Pixel
SegMetrics comes with its own Tracking Pixel that collects advanced metrics on your leads, including their real lead source, opt-in URL, UTM codes from when they first hit your site, geo-location and much, much more.
The tracking pixel currently tracks two different values as users visit your site: the optin values, and the journey values.
Installing the Pixel is easy. Go to your Site Setup page from the gear in the top menu. Copy the pixel code and put it on every page of your website, right before the closing </body>
tag.
You should include this code even on pages where you don’t have any opt-in forms, so that we can accurately track your lead sources.
You will also want to add the seg_cid
to all your email links so you can track that as well!

How It Works
Once you’ve installed your SegMetrics tracking snippet on all pages of your website and landing pages, we’ll begin collecting visitor data and send that data into our database.
Say you’re running an ad on Facebook or Google, or a visitor finds your site directly through a Google search and lands on a page with your SegMetrics tracking pixel installed. At that point, we’ll start tracking the visitor’s web activity on your website, even before we know who they are.
Once that contact is identified and is housed in your CRM, any other integrations where that contact lives, such as your payment processors or ads platforms, SegMetrics will be able to pull that data together.
This is how SegMetrics is able to associate the purchases the contact made and associate that revenue to the contact and report on the contact’s lifetime value. It’s also how we’re able to associate link and ad campaign clicks to report on web visits, ads and revenue attribution back to the contact.

How To Test Your Tracking Pixel
Once you or your developer have installed the tracking pixel, you’ll want to make sure it’s been set up properly.
Making sure the tracking link is set up correctly is quick and easy. You’ll want to go to the debugger that can be found on the Site Setup page. To get there, you’ll click on the gear icon in the top right corner and choose “Site Setup”. Once there, you’ll need to scroll down to “Debug Tracking Pixel” and enter in your full domain.
When you’ve done that, you’ll be taken to your site and should see a SegMetrics bar at the bottom of your page that will provide you with details on the tracking. If your tracking pixel has been installed correctly, you should see “User Identification Sent” show up in the Activity Feed section of the debugger.
